When a value is stored using more than one byte, the bytes have to be stored in a particular order, just like how decimal numbers with multiple digits have to be written in a particular order. This byte is called the "LSB" or "least-significant byte". The "last" or "rightmost" byte has the highest place value and is called the "MSB" or "most-significant byte".
